(Own Correspondent.)

A meeting of ratepayers (Mr A. E. Fear in the’chair) was held in the public library at Pirongia on Saturday last. The meeting was poorly attended, owing no doubt to the wet night. Mr C. M. Alexander, a member of the Waipa County Council, attended, and explained in a very lucid manner the allocation of the proposed loan for roads, bridges, etc., in this district. A vote of approval in the allocation of the loan, as explained by Mr Alexander, was carried unanimously. A vote of thanks to Mr Alexander for attending and explaining the loan so clearly was moved by Mr Finn and seconded by Mr J. Whitton, and carried unanimously.
