WARATAH V. PIRONGIA.
(Contributed.)
On Wednesday Waratahs and Pirongia played their first game for the Cup at the latter's ground. Previous to starting there was a slight shower. During the first spell Pirongia held the upper hand, and scored two goals In the second half play was more even, and both sides scored a goal each, the game ending, Pirongia 3, Waratah I. N. Fear (2), and C. Given (1) scored for Pirongia, while E. Parker, ably assisted by Johns, shot a goal for Waratahs. The game was well contested, but at times one or two Pirongia players were unnecessarily rough. . Players should bear in mind that they render themselves liable to be ordered off the field by the referee for unsportsmanlike tactics.
Mr C. Davis had charge of the game, giving the utmost satisfaction.
