TOWN BAND.
A meeting of the committee of the Te Awamutu Town Band took place at the WAIPA POST office last night. In the unavoidable absence of the president (Mr J. Jackson), Mr W. F. Stewart presided over a full attendance of committeemen.
The minutes were duly, read and confirmed, after which the correspondence from the Chamber of Commerce with reference to the proposed utilization of Albert Park for general recreation purposes was read. It was resolved that the band do anything possible, and to assist in any proposal likely to attain the desired end. Messrs A. Newsome, C. North, and H. Lenehan were deputed to represent the band at the meeting of delegates. Other general correspondence of minor importance was dealt with.
A report and statement of accounts in connection with the series of entertainments was submitted. Lengthy discussion ensued and several resolutions for the improvement in the detail arrangements were recorded. Correspondence and a brief report in connection with the proposed Waikato and King Country Brass Band contest which is to take place at Te Awamutu next October, was submitted. Full consideration was deferred pending certain Correspondence being finally dealt with by the secretary, and the meeting adjourned accordingly.
