ENTERTAINMENTS.
PREMIER PICTURES. To-night’s screening at the Town Hall of the glorious mythological legend “Psyche,” should arouse interest, as it will be reproduced on a scale of magnificence seldom attempted. The stage setting is said to be remarkable, while the mounting, costuming, and furnishings, it is stated, have never been excelled. Other selected subjects to be screened in support of the star feature are, “The Railroad Inspector’s Peril,” in which is a strong plot to rob a United States freight train; “The Children’s Hour,” a charming play teeming with interest; “Schmitz the Tailor,” “Which Way Did Go,” (comic), Pathe Gazette, and a charming coloured scenic by Gaumont entitled “Beautiful Scenes on Chevreuse.”
On Thursday a complete change of programme will be screened. “The Sea Eternal” is the title of the star picture. The story is a complex one, full of action and sensation. Many exciting scenes on the rough seas are depicted. Other dramas are, “Dolly saves her Grandfather,” and “Van Nostran’s Tiara.” Several comedies and items of interesting happenings will be included in the programme. . .
THE 'LE-MAR ROSHEA COMPANY. To-morrow night in the Town Hall a visit will be paid by the Le-Mar ’ Roshea Company of hypnotists, illusionists, and entertainers. This combination, who have recently arrived from America, are meeting with a big reception in New Zealand, and it is only necessary to read the reports in the daily press to get an idea of the popularity of this company. They have just concluded a most successful season in Hamilton, where they were greeted with great applause. The Waikato Times says i—'The funniest show that has ever visited Hamilton. Headed by Professor Le-Mar, who is the greatest student of hypnotism yet to tour New Zealand, and he has his audiences in roars of laughter all through the performance. He invites local subjects on to the platform, and these under his influence do exactly as he asks them. One very funny test the Professor is putting on during this tour is the great circus act. Each subject is told he is a “star” artist in a big circus, and the antics they go through are beyond description. Miss Pauline Roshea, who is also touring with this company, is very clever, and will give her wonderful mental telepathy act to-morrow night. Roger Rondon is a great entertainer, and Miss Zena Dailey who also assists the Professor has a wonderful act in catalepsy. The prices are 3s, 2s, and Is. RIFLE CLUB’S EUCHRE PARTY.
On Friday evening next the Te Awamutu Defence Rifle Club’s annual euchre party and dance takes place at the Town Hall, and'is being looked forward to by a large number of residents. The promoters of this entertainment have all necessary arrangements to ensure the complete success of this function well in hand, and that the function will be a most enjoyable one is already assured.
The first and second prizes for the card party have been donated by Mr Kendrick, and may now be seen in the window of Mr Kendrick’s jewellery establishment. The trophies won during the past season will be presented to the several successful marksmen during the evening. The supper arrangements, which have been entrusted to an energetic ladies’ committee, are being carried out in detail. In every bianch this entertainment will doubtless prove the succef s- th: promoters are assuring to it.
