RETAIL TRADERS' ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the above association was held at the public library buildings on Wednesday evening. Fifteen firms were, represented, Mr G. M. A. Ahier, president, presiding. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and several recommendations from the executive were considered.
The greater part of the meet- i ing was taken up in the consideration of the rules of the association. These were read by the secretary, and in some instances evoked considerable discussion, - during the course of which it was i clearly shown that, the members, I in forming the organization, did so in the hope that by co-opera- ' tion in matters affecting their 'J business relations with the public, ■>? the public would receive the utmost possible consideration.
After some minor amendments had been made the rules and bylaws were adopted.
j it was decided that the association register under "The Incorporated Societies Act, 1908." In moving a vote of sympathy with the widow and family of the late Mr W. N. von Sturmer, members spoke of the great loss the business people had sustained by the death of Mr von Sturmer. His uprightness in all business dealings was commented upon.The motion was carried in silence, the members standing. * After consideration of matteM of minor importance the meetijßß concluded with'the usual vote tt. the chair. \ -**.
