OHAUPO.

(Own Correspondent.)

The Ohaupo Football Club played their first match with an outside team on Saturday, when they met and defeated a team - composed of partly junior and senior players of the Hamilton City Club by 6 points to nil. The P:,weather was very unpleasant, but E footballers who are keen on the [ sport do not seem to mind the Ltfgtate of the elements, and w%n make up their mind for a they do not like to be disappointed. Both teams played V. well, and although the Hamilton team were beaten they put up a very good fight, and a score on their behalf would have been ap-

preciated by every spectator present. The visitors, who were 'T'the lighter team, got within an 4 ace of scoring on several occasions, but the luck was against them. The game was in favour of the home team most of the time. The game was played in a most friendly spirit, and it was pleasing to note the absence of argument and rough play. The local team are rapidly getting into form, and provided they organise special practices to acquire the necessary combination, .there is no reason why they should not give a very good

account of themselves during the present season. Mr S. Bryers, of the Farmers Co-operative Auctioneering Co., left last week on a holiday trip to the South Island. Rev. Father McCarthy and Rev. Father Lynch have, been conducting a week’s special mission here, and which came to a conclusion on Sunday morning. These meetings were well attended, and at the farewell service seating accommodation was quite inadequate, and numbers had to be content standing. Preparations are well in hand for the Catholic social, which promises to be a great success.
