In a speech at Aramoho on Friday evening Mr Veitch, M.P., stated that on a no-confidence motion he would vote for Sir Joseph Ward against Mr Massey. Mr Veitch voted against Sir Joseph Ward on a no-confidence motion just prior to the latter's retirement from office.
As a result of the storm which passed over this district last night Mr H. H. Thompson's valuable mare Lady Mack was killed. On rising this morning Mr Thompson found the animal near a fence laying in a pool of blood. The animal had apparently been terrified by the violence of the storm, and stampeding with other animals, had crashed into a wire fence. In freeing itself it had torn itself about in a terrible manner. When found in the early hours of morning it was quiie dead. MiThompson's loss is a considerable one. He had repeatedly been offered £IOO for the beast, but on no account would he consider any offer to part with a horse upon which he placed a more than monetary value.
