(Own Correspondent.)

A meeting was held on Wednesday last at Mr Abbott's hotel, when it was decided to form a hockey club, to be known as the Ohaupo Hockey Club. The following were elected as a committee: Messrs W. G. Abbott, W. Wagener, Graham, C. Richards, and A. McLean. Mr F. Molesworth, senr., was elected president of the club, and Mr G. Fletcher, secretary and treasurer. The vice-presidents are Messrs Robb, A. Graham, G. Bailey, J. Turnwald, F. Gillett, and E. Edwards; delegates, Messrs W. G. Abbott, and C. Richards. The club has decided to affiliate with the Waipa Union. Colours, all black. The opening match is to take place on Wednesday next. The following Ngahinapouri farms have changed hands during the last few days: Mr S. J. Wetherley's to Mr J. Bukowsky ; Mr E. Anderson's to Messrs Porter Bros.; Mr J. Warden's to Mr H. H. Short.

On Sunday afternoon the Te Awamutu Band paid us a visit, and played a number of fine selections which were greatly appreciated by the public. The members were afterwards invited to afternoon tea by Mr W. G. Abbott. A return visit of the band will be eagerly looked forward to, when a record attendance of the public may be assured.

Rev. Mortimer-Jones conducted his farewell service on Sunday evening at the Church of England, when there was a good congregation. The rev. gentleman leaves by the Manuka on Monday next for the Old Country, where he intends enjoying a twelve months' holiday. While in England he will purchase the furnishings, etc., for the new church which is shortly to be erected. A good number of our local people intend journeying to Kaipaki on Wednesday evening to take part in the plain, poster, and fancy dress ball. Great interest was taken in the football match played here on Saturday between the married men and bachelors for a dinner. The game was in favour of the bachelors, who won by 14 points to nil.

Next Saturday the Hamilton football team meet the Ohaupo team on the local club's ground/ * _— —- /
