ANNUAL MEETING. i The annual meeting of the Te j Awamutu Hockey Club was held 1 on Tuesday evening in the Cos- i mopolitan club room. Mr S. A. Empson (president) occupied the chair, there being a fair attendance of members present. The balance-sheet, which was submitted, showed a credit of £2 9s 3d. The following report was read by the secretary : The committee have pleasure in reporting a very successful season. The season was opened with a seven-a-side tournament, two teams coming from Leamington, one each from Paterangi and Pirongia, and four local teams, the tournament being won by Te Awamutu A. The club journeyed to Leamington for their opening day, suffering defeat by four goals to three. When the Waipa Hockey Association was formed, the club having a good playing membership, decided to form two teams, namely, the Waratahs and the Rovers, and enter them, the latter team, the Rovers, subsequently winning the Empson Cup and Nordon’s medals from the Waratahs. Two sets of jerseys were generously donated to the club by two old enthusiasts, Messrs Moeller and Douglas. By their generosity much worry was saved the committee. On Tune 3rd the Akarana Club (Auckland) visited Te Awamutu, and it is to be regretted that they were not treated with the respect : due to city players, the local team winning easily by seven goals to nil. The club was well represented in the Waipa Asso- ■ ciation’s rep. team, nine players being selected, three Waratahs and six Rovers. The annual
hockey “ At Home ” again proved a marked success, the club being honoured by the Auckland touring team’s presence, who played the Waipa reps, on that date. Medals were kindly donated by Mrs Le Sueur and Mr Bartleet, while Mr Spear donated two sticks, the trophies beiijg won by C. Vile, F. Noith, J. Duncan, and L. Alright. A communication was received from the secretary of the Leamington Hockey Club, asking if a match could be arranged to be played at Cambridge on April 22nd.—Itw.s decided to accept the invitation. . Some discussion ensued as to whether the club should have two teams. On the motion of Mr North it was resolved to continue on similar lines to those of last year, under the Waipa Hockey Association. The following officers were elected for the ensuing season : Patron, Mr J. Jackson ; president, Mr E. A. Cox; vice-presidents, Drs Henderson and Reekie and Messrs C. Daking, H. A. Luks, A. G.
