RANGIAOHIA ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above Board took place at the Board’s office on Saturday. There were present: —Messrs D. Cavanagh (chairman), F. Bowden, Storey, Long, McGhie, and the engineer W. H. Mandeno. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter, was read from Mr F. E. Smith, chairman oftheOrakau jubilee committee, in reference to local bodies contributing towards the cost of the celebrations recently held at Orakau. The chairman was of the opinion that the local bodies contribute say £lO. He was against having a private subscription list circulated. He moved that the sum of £lO 10s be voted by the Board, and that no lists be circulated amongst rate-

payers. This was seconded by Mr Bowden, and carried. .The chairman mentioned the ready response which had been met with from farmers and others in helping towards the success of the jubilee celebrations. Mr W. G. Abbott had donated the sum of £5, while Mrs Abbott had contributed provisions to the value of £5The in referring to the approaches to Storey’s bridge, made several suggestions which he considered beneficial. —It was m decided that the engineer have the work done. • Mr J. Frost wrote complaining

of the state of the road in the vicinity of his property. He " asked that a culvert be. put in to L avoid accident.—lt was agreed 0 to have the earthwork done. Mr Potts wished to know if the

Board intended to have the drain on the road close to his property attended to.—Matter left in the hands of the chairman and Mr Storey. The clerk reported that several persons had complied with the requirements in regard to overhanging trees. The following accounts were passed for payment Thomson Bros, (carting) ss, D. Bockett (rent) £5, E. A. Cox £5 17s 6d, WAIPA POST £1 6s 9d, J. Riley £7B 2s 6d, J. Tucker £4O 13s 9d.
