TOWN BOARD.
The fortnightly meeting of the Te Awamutu Town Board took place at the Board's office on' Friday evening. Present: Messrs A. S. Wallace (chairman), W. Taylor, J. B. Teasdale, S. C. Mathews, Dr Reekie, and the Board's engineer, H. Munro Wilson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. WATER SUPPLY. The question as to what price the residents should be charged for the use of the water was discussed, and it was thought advisable before fixing a charge, that more information be obtained j as to methods adopted elsewhere. It was decided to offer the Railway Department the use of the water on an approximate daily supply of 10,000 gallons, at the rate of 9d per 1,000 gallons. GALVANIZED SERVICE, FITTINGS AND PIPES. Messrs Wingate and Co., Auckland, wrote offering to supply the necessary galvanised service, fittings and pipes, for the water supply, and stating that they were in a position to supply the material very reasonably. The engineer considered it would be advisable to call for tenders. KERBING. The engineer submitted for the Board's approval plans of kerbing and channelling. He thought the work of constructing the necessary moulds could be done locally. It was decided to call tenders for the work at once. METALLING. The chairman thought if advisable that tenders be called for the carting of metal for Alexandra Street, and he moved to that effect'. Seconded by Dr Reekie and carried. RAIKES' SUBDIVISION. As requested, the engineer had prepared plans of a road and submitted the same. It was resolved that the same conditions apply as those of Messrs Coombs' and Connor's subdivision. TEASDALE SETTLEMENT. The engineer stated he would have the necessary plans for the work in connection Avith the Teasdale Settlement prepared, and submit them at the next meeting of the Board. SUPERVISION OF PIPE-LAYING. The chairman moved that C. Bvgrave be authorised to supervise the laying of the pipes, and to get his instructions from the engineer.—Carried. REQUEST FOR PAYMENT. Messrs Wingate and Co., contractors for the supply of wa'ter pipes, wrote asking that payment be made for money due on pipes already delivered. The clerk reported that the money had not yet been received by the Board. It was left to the chairman and the clerk to at once make arrangements for the necessary amount to be forwarded to Messrs Wingate and Co. DOG TAX. Geo. Bowling forwarded tender for collecting dog tax. This being the only tender (6d), it was decided to accept it. The tender of F. H. Vile for the supply of dog collars (7d) was accepted. HALF HOLIDAY. The clerk repoited that the petition regarding the half holiday question had not yet been received. The matter was deferred. THANKS. A vote of thanks was passed to those gentlemen who had placed their motor cars," at the disposal of the Minister of Public Works and party on the occasion of their recent visit. ACCOUNTS. The following accounts were passed for payment:—Waterworks (wages) £79 13s Bd, Advertising (N.Z. Gazette) 16s, C. T. Rickitand Sons 6s id, WAIPA POST £1 7s 6d, Wingate and Co. £7,200, Garvey Bros. £l4 8s 9cl, Waikato Argus I2s, Andrew and Son £2lO, C. Bygrave £6 18s 6d.
