MINISTERIAL VISITS.

MINISTER FOR PUBLIC WORKS.

TO VISIT KAWHIA.*

The Hon. Mr Fraser, Minister for Public Works, arrives at Te Awamutu from Wellington by the second Main Trunk express at 12.13 p.m. to-day. He will be met by representatives of the Te Awamutu Town Board and Chamber of Commerce, and immediately conveyed to the Te Awamutu Hotel, where he will be entertained at luncheon bv the members of the Town Board, Waipa County Council, Rangiaohia Road Board, Council of the Te Awamutu Chamber of Commerce, and other public bodies. He will later be asked toreceive deputations, after which, if time permits, motors will be in readiness to convey the party around the immediate district.

At about 2.30 p.m. the party will leave for Pirongia, and on arrival will be entertained at afternoon tea by the residents of that district. The Minister will be asked to receive several local deputations, and will be shown various matters of local importance. The party will be entertained at dinner at the Alexandra bjotel. In the evening an entertainment will be held at the public hall, at

which the Plon. Mr Fraser and Messrs Young and Wilson, M.’sP., will be asked to address the residents. To-morrow morning the party will set out by special conveyance for Kawhia, and en route will halt at Te Rau-a-Moa for lunch, and receive a number of deputations at the settlement. The party will proceed by motor launch to Kawhia, which should be reached soon after 4 p.m. In the evening the visitors will be entertained by members °f the County Council and Chamber of Commerce.

Thursday will be occupied in viewing the harbour and travelling to Te Anga, south of Kinohaku, and at night a social will be tendered the Minister at Kawhia, and at which it is expected addresses will be delivered by the Minister and Mr j. A. Young, M.P., and Mr C. K. Wilson, iVI.P.

On Friday, the party journey to Otorohanga direct from Te-Rau-a-Moa, and the Minister returns to Wellington on Saturday.

OPENING OF TE AWAMUTU AND OHAUPO POST OFFICES.

POSTMASTER-GENERAL TO PERFORM CEREMONIES.

On Saturday next the Plon. R Heaton Rhodes will visit Ohaupo arriving by the Main Trunk express at 12.30 p.m. He will be met at the station by Mr J. A. Young, member for the district, Mr John Fisher, chairman of the Waipa County Council, Mr Robt. Fisher, chairman of thePukekura Road Board, and Mr G. Bailey, chairman of the local reception committee.

Immediately after arrival the Minister will perform the opening ceremony, and then be entertained to luncheon by local residents.

At 3 p.m. the Minister is due to arrive at Te Awamutu, and will be received by the representatives of the Town Board and Chamber of Commerce.

He will, at about 3 p.m., perform the official opening ceremony in connection with the Te Awamutu Post Office, and will declare the Town Clock, presented' to the : town by Mr YVilliam Taylor, officially started. He will then be asked to receive several local and district deputations, and will • later be entertained at dinner. | The party will then officially ‘visit the Tokanui Mental Hosl pital, and it is probable that a I public function will be held in j the Town Hall that evening, j Mr J. A. Young, member for Waikato, will accompany the Hon. Mr Rhodes. A meeting, representative of the various district local bodies, will be held this afternoon to arrange a fixed programme in connection with Mr Rhodes’ visit.
