BRITANNIA AND HER DAUGHTERS.
A most successful full-dress rehearsal of the cantata “Britannia and Her Daughters ” was held at the Town Hall last evening. The chorus, songs, duets, etc., were successfully gone through. The stage accommodation was taxed to its utmost to seat the' large large number of performers who were present. The superb mountings and gorgeous dresses form a very pretty effect. A large amount of work has been devoted in bringing the cantata to its present high state of efficiency. The training of the children alone has taken up much of the conductor’s time, and the result achieved proves that the work has not been in vain. The alloting of the solos has been judiciously carried out,' the best talent available having been secured. A most efficient orchestra rendered valuable assistance and added greatly to the success of the cantata. To-night the cantata will be staged for the first time, and it will be repeated again on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
