TENNIS.
A committee-meeting of the Te Awamutu Lawn Tennis Club was held in the Cosmopolitan club room last week. There were present: Messrs A. C. Cruickshank (chairman), L. North, E. Parker, A. Thomas, Archibald, W. Newton, R. Mclver and W. Johns.
The following new members were elected : —Misses Dil and Paul, and Rev. D. J. Shaw.
A letter was received from Mr R. S. Galbraith enclosing cheque for £l is as a donation to the cltib. —It was decided .to write and thank the donor for his continued interest and financial assistance to.the club, although residing as far awav as Invercargill. It was decided that the president consult the ladiesjin regard to afternoon tea for Wednesday as well as Saturday. The following sub-committees were appointed : —Match committee, Messrs Thomas, North and Parker (secretary, and selection committee, Messrs Cox, Cruickshank and Johns. The courts were allotted to — Nos I and 2, Messrs Thomas, Parker, and Johns ; No. 3, Messrs Archibald and Mclver; No. 4, Messrs North and Newton. This is the first time in the history of the club that a full committee meeting of eight members has been held. Great interest is being taken by the committeemen, and before long the Domain Board will be more than satisfied with the condition of the tennis courts. Great enthusiasm is being shown by the new members. Tennis parties and morning tea on the courts before the day's work commences is quite the order. Several new members will greatly strengthen the club, and everything points to a very successful season.
The following accounts were passed for payment:—Ross and Co. £r 18s 2d, WAIPA POST 6s 3d, House and Daking is &Ad.
