"AT HOME."

One of the best social functions in connection with St. John's Anglican Church was given at the Town Hall on Friday evening, when parishioners were entertained by their parish officers at an "at home." There was a very fair attendance, although the frequent heavy showers resulted in man}parishioners from the outlying districts not being present. The hall, which was converted into a drawing room, was nicely arranged with carpet squares, small tables and velvet lounges and artistically decorated with roses and pink and white azalias, while round its walls were hung many oil paintings. The guests were received by Mrs E. I. Miller, who, in her usual happy way made every one feel at home. Cards were played in the earlier hours, during the course of which musical items were rendered by Messrs E. Parker and O. Price Owen. An ample and tasty supper was provided. The tables looked verypretty, with large bowls of azalias intermixed with evergreens. Immediately after supper Rev. Kayll, at the request of the vestry, addressed the parishioners on matters pertaining to their church. Dancing was then proceeded with and brought to a close a most enjoyable evening's entertainment.
