THE STRIKE.

The following has been issued to its creamery managers by the New Zealand Dairy Association, Ltd. :

"Some of your suppliers will doubtless be wondering what influence the strike will have upon the business. Already a number of such enquiries have reached us. The position certainly is grave. At present it is impossible to forecast the influence the strike will have upon the business. Our directors recently decided to continue during the month of November the same rate of advance as obtained during the months of September and October. In view of the uncertainty the strike has caused, it is now impossible to state whether this decision can be given effect to. The policy of the company is to make advance from month to month 'as generous as possible, and that policy will b"e applied to the month of November. Meanwhile vour suppliers will be interested in knowing that the marketing conditions are encouraging. Unfortunately, the oversea transport arrangements are entirely disorganised, and it is a matter of conjecture when the next shipment will be sent away. It is expected, however, that an organisation will be completed in time to deal with this phase of the question before it becomes acute. One of the early difficulties caused bv the strike was the uncertainty of our fuel supply, but we believe arrangements made, will enable us to keep going as long as the strike continues. Certainly we can see our way for a considerable time ahead. It is useless to close our eyes to the fact that the present position is a particularly serious one, more serious indeed than the industry has previously been confronted with. Your suppliers, however, may rest assured that everything possible is being done to conserve their interests, the interests of the association, and of the industry."
