KIHIKIHI.
(Own Correspondent.)
The weather was all that could be desired on Wednesday for the opening day of the tennis season. There was a large attendance of both players and spectators. The president of the club, Mr. C. O’Brien, made a very appropriate speech for the occasion. In the course of his remarks he stated that a great deal of credit was due to Mr Wade for . the manner in which he worked to get the court in order. Last year, he said, Kihikihi had neither a tennis club nor a courtto play on. This year through the untiring efforts of Messrs Wade, Cran, Anderson and Alderson, they have a court in excellent order, and a club of over 50 members.
For the number of players in the club one court is very inadequate, and steps will be taken to endeavour to get another court. He then declared the season open". Great'interest was taken in the games, and a very pleasant afternoon was spent, afternoon tea being dispersed by the ladies. In the evening a very enjoyable dance was held in the Town Hall. The music was in the capable hands of Mr G. Dalton, and Mr J. Anderson acted as M.C.
