BARON KILCOY (Shepherd Lad—Nell). BARON KILCOY is a splendid bay horse, and for bone and substance has few equals. He h'as massive shoulders, powerful loins, well-sprung ribs, immense quarters, carries an abundance of hair, and for general good points is a rarelyfurnished animal in every respect. Shepherd Lad, by Herd Laddie (imp.) Sliep herd Lad’s dam, Maggie McCormick 11. (dam of Mr Walter Blaikie’s champion mare Queen; Maggie McCormick 11., by Lord Salisbury (imp.); dam, Maggie McCormick, by Kettle’s Wallace ; dam, Miss McCormick. Herd Laddie, imported from Scotland by the late Mr H. Rea, and sold to Mr D. Archibald for the sum of 75.0 guineas, and never changed hands until sold to Mr Jas. Blaikie. Herd Laddie was bred by Mr Jno. Templeton, St. Quivox, Ayrshire. His sire, Jemmie Gray, dam, Sally, by Baronet. Lord Salisbury (imp.) was bred by Jas. Cunningham,Tarbreoch, Dalbeattie, Kirkcudbrightshire. Sire, Young Conqueror; dam, Darling, by Tintock. Lord Salisbury was never beaten in a show yard.
