Weather conditions were any
thing but favourable on Wednesday morning,, the day fixed for the annual fixture of the Waipa Racing Club at Greenhill race- ; Uxourse. Steady rain fell during -■ - the greater part of the morning. The secretary received information that a notice appeared in the Gazette from the Minister of f Internal Affairs revoking all licenses issued under the Act lor period ending July 3U 19!3* was decided to at once communiIfc xrate with the Minister, and ascer■ftain the position. A replv was ■ received stating that the notice ■did not affect the Waipa Racing Club, and it was therefore decided to hold the races. By this time the weather had cleared,
and > the sun shone out. . The
course was in good order conV sidering the. rain that had fallen. There was a fair attendance of the public. The fields in the majority of the races were good, the starter being successful in getting them away to good starts. During the afternoon the Town Band, under bandmaster Newsome, rendered a splendid
programme of- music. During the preliminary in the Handicap -Hunters’ Hurdles, Leo Knight, while endeavouring to jump the hurdle fell, and his rider, Bennett, - .•received a severe shaking, which Necessitated his removal from the course. Although the races were late in starting, all arrangements were well carried out and reflect great credit on the secretary (Mr J. M. Spear) and the various officials of the club. Following are the results : Handicap hunters’ Hurdles, of i 8 sovs.
H. Weal’s ch g Westerly, 10.10 ... . ... ... I H. Windsor’s b m Angeline, 10.0 2 H. Holst’s b g Leo Knight, io.o 3 The only starters. Westerly and Angeline, were together till approaching the last hurdle, when the former forged ahead, and a good race between the pair ended in Westerly winning by a length. Ohaupo Handicap Maiden, of 15 sovs.
J. Paterson’s br g Kaikoha, 9.8 I R. E. Wingate’s b g Glenspire, 11.0... . '... 2 W. Thompson’s c m Merry Widow, 10.12 ... ... 3 Also started—Gamblers’ Gold, Aob the Ranter, Matador, Arnstic, Lady Maurice. Kiakoha got slightly the best of a good start, and led the field along the back stretch where Merry Widow
took charge, the rest of the field being bunched. On entering the straight Kaikoha came through and won by two lengths, Glenspire just beating Merry Widow for second place. Maiden Trot handicap, of 10 sovs.

Passing the stand the first .time the order was Ambergris, Merry Widow, Santiago, Flying Soult and Siolo. Ambergiis was still leading as .they passed along the back. ... Flying Soult now came through and won easily by three lengths, Santiago beating Siolo by a length.

Westerly was leading Hauera, followed closely by Slang. Lake View, The Reckoner, Lady Oakleigh. Some little difficulty was experienced by the starter in getting his field away, Blarney Stone being the cause. Eventually a good start.was effected. Gamblers’ Gold was leading along the back, closely followed by Hukurere, the rest close up. Entering the straight Dandy Breeze came through from the back, and passing the leader won comfortably by a length and a half, Hukurere beating Blarney Stone by half a length for second place.
