CAMBRIDGE SALE
At Cambridge, on Monday, August 4th, we yarded 1286 head of cattle, and report one of the most successful sales held for some time. Buyers were present from Te Teko, Te Puke, Auckland, Thames, and surrounding district, and all classes of stock sold well, only a few lots of badly conditioned calves being passed in. In the beef pens 156 were yarded. Prime steers made from £[o to £ll lis, others £9 2s 6d to £9 13s, prime heavy cows £8 10s to £lO 17s 6cl, good cows £7 to £8 Ss, others and old £5 to £6, 2 and 2%-year-old steers £4 16s to £5 15s, 18 months good £4 to £4 lis, best yearling steers £3 5s to £3 TOs, good £2 17s 6d to £3 3s, mixed sexes £2 15s to £3 ss, good yearling heifers £3 5s to £3 9s, others £2 10s to £3, smaller cattle £1 17s 6d to £2 ss, culls £1 to £1 10s, 2-year-old empty heifers £3 15s to £4 ss, fresh conditioned empty cows £3 15s to £4 10s, store cows £2 10s to,£3 10s, dairy cows £8 to £lO ss, others £4 15s to £7, breeding sows £3 10s to £5 15s, porkers to £2, slips £l 3s to £1 14s. HAMILTON HORSE SALE. 1 We held a horse sale at the Hamilton bazaar, on Wednesday last, when we offered 178 horses. There was a large attendance and a keen demand, only a very few aged or weedy sorts failing to reach reserves. Prices : Four to seven year old draughts £32 to £37 10s, medium draughts £24 to»£'4o, others more aged £lB to £22, biiggy horses £ls to £23, saddle and harness cobs £8 to £ls, useful hacks £l3 to £l6 10s, ponies £3 10s to £6.
