TE AWAMUTU TOWN BAND.
A meeting of the committee of the Te Awamutu Town Band took place in the WAIPA POST office on Saturday evening, Mr W. F. Stewart (president) presiding. The main business of the meeting concerned the preliminary arrangements connected with the contest for the Shield presented to Waikato and King Country bands by the Dresden Piano Co., of Wellington. It was resolved that bands within the following boundaries be eligible to compete for the Hawke Shield : —From the mouth of the Mokau River eastward to the eastern side of Lake Taupo, taking in Taumarunui, thence northerly taking in Lake Rotorua, thence N.N.W. to Mercer taking in Te Aroha, thence along the northern bank of the Waikato River to its mouth.
Messrs Stewart, Warburton and Blythe were deputed to approach the bands eligible to compete, and to report to a meeting on the 30th inst. Other business relative to the forthcoming bazaar was considered before the meeting adjourned until 30th instant.
