CHICKEN-POX.
An outbreak of chicken-pox at Parawera is reported to have occurred, in view of which it is the duty of every resident to take immediate precautions to prevent., the spread of this dread disease," which is stated to be fairly prevalent amongst the natives. The police are taking every precaution, and, so far as is possible, will keep the natives isolated, but the European population must realize, the great necessity for preventive~nieasures to check the spread of this disease. Vacj cination is necessary, and, in the present circumstances, should be compulsory.
At the special meeting of the •*-*= Kihikihi Town Board last evening the clerk was instructed to telegraph to the district health officer reporting the • circumstances, and asking that immediate action be taken. It is presumed that disease was brought into the district by a native who had journeyed from Mangare.
