TE AWAMUTU SHOW COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the above committee was held in the Cosmopolitan club room on Saturday afternoon. About twenty members were present, Mr W. N. von Stunner presiding. An apology from Mr H. Webb (Paterangi) for non-attendance was received. The minutes of the former meeting of the committee were read and confirmed.
The committee appointed to interview Mr Taylor in the matter of the proposed purchase of a portion of the “Green Hill” estate for general recreation pur- 1 poses reported that Mr Taylor 1 had expressed his willingness to sell the land at the price determined by the Government valuer —approximately £75 per acre.—After consideration it was resolved that the secretary write thanking Mr Taylor for his offer and expressing regret that it was deemed to be too high a price to pay for land for the required purposes.
A proposal was then made that the committee endeavour to arrange with the Town Board for the use of the Te Awamutu Domain of about twenty acres. It was reported that the term of the present lease of this domain expires in October next. It was ultimately resolved that Messrs Crago, Young, Death, Quin, Lawson, E.
