The local branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union is making active preparations tor the first annual social to be held in the hall on Monday evening, and present indications point to a most successful meeting. Mr J. A. Young, M.P. for Waikato, will be present, as well as representatives from neighbouring branches of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union.
Four farms have changed lianos during ti;e last month. Mrs Pope’s 60 acres lo Mr Watts, Mr Christopherson’s 115 acres to Mr Jenson, Mr Waunch’s 450 acres to Messrs Given Bros., and Mr O’Shea’s 2,003 acres to Messrs Lewis and Henderson. The contractor for the new store (Mr Aiiey) has completed necessary preliminaries, and already a quantity of timber is slacked on the ground. The surveyors are hard at work cutting up the Turner estate of 2,000 acres, and probably some will be placed on the market at an early date. A team of telegraph linesman will meet the local football players in a match at an early date.
