NEW ZEALAND FARMERS’ UNION.

PIRONGIA BRANCH. The annual meeting of the above branch was held in Mr Jones’ office on Monday, May sth. Present: —Messrs H. Death, A. E. Fear, H. Johnson, A. W. Jones, C. Given, J. Mahood, \jV. Beet, J. Turner, T. Seccombe, J. Sullivan, and G. Finn.

Minutes of initial meeting were read and confirmed.

The following officers were elected : President, Mr H. O. Death ; vice-presidents, Messrs C. Given, H. Johnson, A. Renny and R. Lowe; joint secretaries, Messrs G. Finn and A. W. Jones ; treasurer, Mr G. Finn ; auditor, Mr W. G. Moon.

The following new members were elected .-—Messrs J. Mahood, C. Given, H. Jackson, H. Cochoran, Watts, C. Ormsby, H. Reilly, W. McCarthy and J. Turner: committee, Messrs H. Johnson, A. E. Fear, C. Given, W. Beet, J. Mahood, T. Seccombe and H. Collins.

The secretary read the remits:— That it had been decided at the meeting held on the' previous Monday, to send to the annual conference, which was confirmed, and it was proposed by Mr Mahood and seconded by Mr Jones, that in the opinions of this branch, all stallions travelling this Dominion for be compelled to pass a Government veterinary examination be added to the list.

It was decided to hold a social at an early date, the secretary to invite Mr J. A. Young to be present, and to advertise date fixed as soon as possible. Messrs A. E. Fear, H. Johnson, A. W. Jones, C. Given, and H. Death were elected a committee to arrange social.

The secretaries were instructed to keep in touch with sister branches, re any matters of common interest in which united action of all the branches in the district might be beneficial. Votes of thanks to Mr A. W. Jones for use of his office and to Mr G. Finn for his services as secretary concluded the meeting.
