BOWLING.

A bowling tournament was j held on the local club’s green on ; Wednesday afternoon to compete for the trophies presented by the president of the club, Mr A. S. Wallace. The weather was fine but a cold wind was blowing. Each pair played 5 games of 7 heads. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies and was greatly appreciated. Following are the results ‘A’ SECTION. Clements Jr. and 1 Gilbert/ 4 - 1 Stonehouse and 1 Christian J 4 Brown and Jones 2 ... 3 Stewart and Garstin I ... 4 Wallace and McLeod 2 ... 3 Norden and Miller 2 ... 3 FINAL (7 HEADS). Brackenridge and Dil ... 10 Stonehouse and Christian ... 3 Owing to the number of games played, the final, which took place between Messrs Brackenridge and Stonehouse, was not started till late, and the concluding heads were played by the aid of a lantern. Great interest was manifested in the contest. At the conclusion the president, .after congratulating the winners on their splendid performance, presented Mr Brackenridge with a silver egg cruet, and to Mr Dil a set of jam dishes and spoons. Three cheers were then given for Mr and Mrs Wallace and to the bowlers, also to the ladies for providing afternoon tea.
