Mr J. Jones, auctioneer, Victoria and Lome Streets, reports : There has been a large volume of business in the fruit and produce market this week. Prices in some lines are slightly lower than last week. Apples and pears are arriving in large quantities to a good market for prime lots. Onions, £7 lOs to £8; swedes, £2 5s to £3 15s ; pumpkins, £5 to £6 lOs ; kumeras, £8 ; citron melons, £4. Butter, bulk, 10%d to fresh eggs 2s to 2s 2d, preserved is 3d to is sd; fanners' cheese, 5d to 6 l Ad. Apples, choice dessert 7s to Bs, good 5s 3d to 6s 2d, cookers 4s gd to 6s 3d ; p;?ars, da?r.ert -,s to 8s 3d, cookers 3s gd to 4s IOd; tomatoes, 3s to 3s gd ; passions, 3s to 5s 3d ; lemons, 9s to 13s 6d. Poultry.—Roosters, table, 3s to 4s 6d ; small, 2s to 3s gd. Cockerels is id to Is 6d; hens Is 7d to 2s 3d ; ducks is 9d to 2s lOd : geese 3s 6d ; turkey gobblers 6s 6d to 13s 2d ; hens 4s to 6s.
