STOCK FOR WAIKATO.

The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Kaipara, which arrived at Auckland late on Monday night, brought two Jersey cows, four Shire colts, and a thoroughbred racing stallion for Auckland.

The Jersey cows, which are from the island of Jersey, are to the order of Mr C. Day, of “ Pencarrow,” Tamahere, Waikato’s oldest breeder of Jersey cattle. They are pretty beasts, and should prove a splendid addition to Mr Day’s herd. The Shire colts have been brought out by Dr Gribben, of Te Awamutu, and appear to be the stamp of animal most needed in the Dominion.

The stallion is Quin Abbey, and has been imported by Messrs Potts Bros., of Te Awamutu. He is an eight-year-old horse by Morganatic, son of St. Simon, from Honey pound, and he has the record of winning both on the flat and over hurdles. Quin Abbey came through the long ocean voyage in a most satisfactory manner, and his rich bay coat carried a good polish when he came under inspection. The horse is to be taken to his new home in the Waikato at an early date.

All the animals were in charge of Dr Gribben, and they look remarkably well after their voyage.
