ODDFELLOWS' SPORTS.
There was a large attendance in Mr Pollard's paddock yesterday afternoon on the occasion of the holding of the Oddfellows' annual picnic and sports. The good shelter provided by the trees along the river banks was much appreciated, as the grounds were quite free from the cold and boisterous wind which prevailed in other parts of the township. Unfortunately, the programme was much curtailed by the rain, which started soon after 4 p.m. and continued throughout the rest of the afternoon. The committee worked hard to make a success of the day's outing, and their efforts were ably seconded by the Lodge secretary Mr H. Worthington. Messrs F. B. Ticklepenny and A. J. Westbury" acted as judges, Messrs Boyes, Worthington and Woods as handicappers, and Mr S. H. West as starter.
