Mr J. Jones, auctioneer and grain merchant, Victoria and Lome Streets, Auckland reports : A very large volume of business has taken place this week. Poultry came forward in very large supplies to a good market for prime conditioned birds. Heavy table roosters are in good demand; poor hens and cockrells were not well competed for. There was a very good demand for fruit, all lines being cleared at each days sale. Peaches, nectarines, and plums have taken a sharp rise. For apples the demand was moderate except for prime lines: Eggs were in better demand, and large supplies came forward. We quote : Produce: Potatoes, prime £5 15s to £6 ss, others £4 10s to £5 ss, onions, local 6s to 7s, swedes is to is 6d bag, cabbages 4s to 6s sack.

NGARUAWAHIA SHEEP FAIR. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., ivport having held their first annual sheep fair in the above yards on Friday the 7th instant, when they had a good yarding of all classes of sheep. There was a good demand and bidding was brisk, all lines offered changing hands with the exception of 200 lambs. We quote: — Best lambs 7s to 9s lid, fair quality lambs 5s iod to 6s iod, small and weedy 2s 6d to 4s Bd, 2-tooth ewes 13s 3d to 14s 9d, 4 and 6-tooth ewes 13s to 18s, f.m. ewes 10s 6d to 13s id, f.m. ewes 8s to 9s 6d, old ewes 4s 5d to 7s 9d, 2-tooth wethers lis id to 13s sd, 4 and 6-tooth wethers 15s 2d to 16s 9d, fat wethers 17s 6d, fat ewes 13s.
