WEDDING BELLS.

JENKINS—ASHBY,

A very oretty and decidedly I popular wedding was celebrated at Christ's Church, Kihikihi, on Wednesday, when Miss Albina Ashby, second daughter of Mr W. Ashby, of that town was united to Dr C. C. Jenkins, of Kawhia. The Rev. Clarke officiated. The church was packed by the many friends of the young couple, and the decorations — which had been carried out by girlfriends of the bride, chief of whom were the Misses Wilson (2) and Anderson assisted by Mr Owen Price Owen —were a special feature and the church presented a very pleasing appearance. The bride, who was tastefully attired in a white embroidered silk robe wore the customary veil surmounted with a wreath of orange blossom, and carried a very dainty bouquet. She looked charming as she entered the church on the arm of her brother, Mr T. Ashby, who, during the ceremony, gave her away. She was attended by her sister, Miss Margaret Ashby, as chief bridesmaid, supported by two little nieces of the bride, Miss Irma Edmonds (Mount. Albert) and Miss Valmai Goodison (" Haruru " Runcimun). The chief bridesmaid was sweetly attired in a pink silk frock, with oriental trimmings, and wearing a pink and white hat and carrying a pretty boquet of pink and white carnations. The little assistants dressed in pretty pale blue frocks and carrying baskets of flowers added considerably to the effectiveness of the scene. The groom was supported by Mr D. Ashby (brother of the bride). Miss Beabb; presided at the organ and at the conclusion of th*e ceremony played the wedding march, after which the relatives and clergy adjourned to the residence ofthe bride's parents " Fairview," where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was partaken of. Amongst those present were Mrs Ashby black silk, black and white bonnet; Mrs Edmonds apricot silk poplin, black hat apricot plumes; Miss Stanley saxe blue ninnon, leghorn hat with saxe blue trimmings; Miss N. Ashby grey eolenne frock and oriental trimmings, white hat with purple flowers ; Miss Milly Ashby pale blue eolenne frock with oriental trimmings, white hat and lancer plumes ; Mrs A. C. Goodison green velvet and oriental trimming, champagne tagel hat trimmed with champagne plumes; Miss Corcoran pale blue floral muslin, pale blue hat and plumes. Early in the afternoon the young couple left by motor for Hamilton en route for the south where the honeymoon will be spent, the bride travelling in a navy blue tailor-made costume and black picture hat. Many and valuable presents were received including a large case of silver from the groom's relatives in England. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a pendant and chain, to the chief bridesmaid an amethyst and pearl brooch and to thcuissistant bridesmaids cable bangles. The present to the groom was a sjg.net ring. In the evening upwafas of 50 guests assembled'trfFairview where a very enjoyable evening was spent. It was not until the early hours that the party dispersed.
