We held our monthlv sale in the above yards on Friday the 19th instant when we yarded 314 head of cattle and 887 sheep. For the sheep there was a good demand but cattle were dull of sale. We quote : —Fat cows £5 ss, 2%-year steers £5 7s, 15 to 18 month steers £3 I2s 6d, yearling steers £2 18s to £3 4s, empty cows £3 Ils to £4, good weaner calves 30s to 48s weaner calves small 20s, springers £6los, 4 and 6-tooth ewes 13s 6d, S.M. ewes los 7d, old ewes 8s 9d, 2-tooth wethers I2s 9d, rams 12s 6d lambs good 9s sd, lambs small 6s 9d.

CAMBRIDGE SALE. - At Cambridge, on January 6, we had an entry ot 400 sheep, 70 pigs, and 500 cattle, the latter being nearly all weaner calves, which met a really good sale. Best sorts made 30s to 38s, medium sorts 255, poor 15s to 18s, fat cows £5 to £6, weaner pigs 14s, slips 19s to 24s 6d, fat ewes 14s. OHAUPO SALE. At Ohaupo, on January 7. we had an entry of 562 head of cattle, chiefly weaner calves, best sorts selling at 30s to 365, medium 20s to 255, yearling steers £3, fat cows £3 los to £6 7s, springing heifers £4 10s to £6 15s. TIRAU SALE. At Tirau, on January 8, we had 280 cattle and 640 sheep penned. Fat ewes made 13s 6d to 14s, two tooth ewes and wethers 14, store .lambs 8s 6d, cull lambs 5s 3d, fat steers £8 to £8 ss, fat cows £5 to £6 Ils, fresh cows £4 5s to £4 10s. The 200 calves were dull of sale and only a few pens were sold, best making 29s to 335. HAMILTON SALE. At Hamilton yards, on January 9, we had a yarding of 39 pigs, 2447 sheep and 964 head of cattle. Sheep were dull of sale and only a few changed hands. Fat wethers made 18s 6d, fat ewes 13s to 14s 6d, fat lambs 13s to 14s 3d, store lambs 10s, two and four tooth small framed ewes 13s 7d, fat steers £8 5s to £ll, fat cows £5 5s to £7 ss, veal calves 29s to 375, fresh conditioned empty cows £4 5s to £4 15s, store cows £3 to £3 10s, two year steers £3 17s to £4 I2s, choice steers 15 months old £3 15s, cows and calves £4 Igs to £6, yearling heifers £3 to £3 7s 6d. Three hundred and fifty weaner calves were brought forward. Really good sorts sold fairly well, but they were hard to quit, good calves making 30s to 375, a few pens of extra choice 3Qs to 425, medium sorts 255, culls 15s to 20s.
Mr J. Jones, auctioneer, Auckland, reports that poultry came forward in very large supply to a falling market. Most birds were moulting and in poor condition. We quote : —Roosters good 3s to 3s 9d, others 2s id to 2s 6d. Cockrels is to is 9d, hens good Is 9d to 2s Id, poor is 3d to Is 6d, ducks is 3d to 2s 2d, turkey gobbler lOs to 14s 9d, hens 4s 6d to 7s, pigs lOs to 15s, potatoes prime £5 15s to £6 lOs, others 4s to 5s cwt., onions local 7s 6d. Fruit. —Apples dessert 4s to 6s 9d, cookers 3s 9d to 5s 2d, plums burbank Is 3d to 2s 4d, English varieties 2s 6d to 3s 6d, peaches 3s to 5s 3d, pears 2s to 4s gd, tematoes 7d, nectarines 4s to 5s 3d. Butter bulk 9d to iod, eggs is to Is 2d, cheese 6d to 7d, bacon sides hams 9%d, maize 4s Bd, wheat, oats 2s iod, bran £5 lOs, sharps £6 10s, chaff £6.
