TO THE EDITOR. SIR, —May I be permitted through you to thank all those who rendered such practical and efficient help last night in extinguishing the fire in my barn, and incidentally to make a suggestion. I have a large number of empty benzine tins, which would make capital fire brigade buckets if a stiff wooden handle were put in the top of each. Some forty or fifty buckets could be made with no expense, Jis I would willingly give the tins. One lesson many or us learnt last night was to pull to pieces any partition where there has been a fire before leaving it. It was owing to this oversight or neglect that the second outbreak occursed. Thanking you, Sir, for inserting this, —I am, grateful to all, John S. Reekie.
