TE AWAMUTU PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY.
AT OTOROHANGA. On Wednesday evening theTc Awainutu Philharmonic Society staged thtf operetta “ Princess Chrysanthemum ” in Turner’s Hall, Otorohanga. There was a very satisfactory attendance, but, owing to the late arrival of the rain, th e overture was not commenced until half an hour after the advertised time. All those performers who took part in the previous productions, with the exception of the fairies, were present, and acquitted themselves remarkably well when the smallness of the Otorohanga stage and consequent inconvenience are considered. The audience was an appreciative one, and warmly applauded the various items, and in several instances encores were called for. At the fall of the curtain the members were invited to supper, and an adjournment was made to Heerdegen’s cafe. On behalf of the school committee and residents of Otorohanga, Mr Miller, in a neat speech, thanked the Society for having journeyed to Otorohanga. The entertainment had been much appreciated, and he hoped that the Society would again visit Otorohanga on some future occasion. On behalf'., of the Society ,Mr Moeller suitably responded.
