RURAL TELEPHONES.

AT POKURU. * The Chamber of Commerce delegates (Messrs Bray, Lawson, and Warburton), accompanied by Mr Stewart visited Pokuru last evening, and explained to the settlers the best method of obtaining telephonic communication on the party wire system. The meeting was well attended, and by the time the delegates returned six applications were duly completed. Settlers are confident that a second party wire will come in from the immediate locality while an extension to Kopua is assured. At the close of the meeting a very hearty vote of thanks, proposed by Mr Scott and 'seconded by Mr Neilson, was accorded the delegates.
