ANOTHER SHOW PROPOSED.

MARTON ENTERS THE LISTS. Some of the farmers and business people of Marton are bent on having an A. and P. Show. The matter was fully discussed at a meeting presided over by Mr F. Brice. The chairman remarked that the proposal had been launched once before, but had. had to be dropped, as the support forthcoming was not sufficient to justify the promoters in going on with the scheme. Personally, he was in favour of the show, and in sending out circulars, he had received expressions of approval from some, whilst several did not favour the holding of a show. One breeder wrote, expressing the opinion that there were already too many shows along the coast. It was decided after a lengthy discussion, that a show should be held if it was found possible to start with a minimum of 400 members or £SOO, and a strong committee is to canvass the district ( for support. If the show eventuates it will be held at Marton Junction racecourse, provided satisfactory arrangements can be made with the Jockey Club.
