KAWA DRAINAGE BOARD.
A special meeting of the new board was held in the offices of the clerk (Mr E. A. Cox) on Saturday the following members being present: —Messrs J. W. Walsh W. Mills, J. B. Teasdale, and D. M. Ross. The chair was taken by the clerk who called for nominations for the office of chairman of the board. It was proposed by Mr Teasdale and seconded by Mr Walsh that Mr Mills be chairman. No further nominations were forthcoming and Mr Mills was elected unanimously. Minutes. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Drainage Works. The foreman’s report was read and adopted, and he was authorised to employ two more men. It was resolved that labour be employed to clear silt from the main drain and that tenders be called for the construction of the second an.d third main drains. Government Grant.
The matter of arranging for the £250 grant was left in the hands of the chairman and Mr Teasdale.
Leave of absence for six months was granted Mr G. Kay.
Finance
The chairman (Mr Mills), Mr Teasdale, and the treasurer (Mr E. A. Cox), were authorised to operate on the bank account. The following accounts were passed for.payment: —J. R. Clarke £ls ios 6d, T. Rogers £9 7s 6d.
