SHEEP FOR AMERICA.

URUCUAY AND THE UNITED STATES. It is stated that the Romney Marsh. breeders of the United States of America intend purchasing some 200 stud rams for the season commencing in the autumn, and owing to the prevalence of foot and mouth disease in England, it is said that there is a possibility of the orders being placed in New -Zealand and Australia. Mr Luis J. Garcia, of Uruguay, who previously invested in New

Zealand stud sheep by purchasing 30 Romney ewes from Mr Ernest. Short, of Feilding, has called on Mr Short, asking him to ship the best Romney ram to be procured in New Zealand, regardless of cost. The ram has been selected, and will be forwarded in due course, the price running well over three figures. It is reported that several leading South American.breeders are coming to New Zealand to purchase stud stock.
