FOUND DROWNED.

FATALITY AT OHAUPO

Miss Bertha Annie Bukowsky, only daughter of Mr J. Bukowsky a resident of Ohaupo, was found drowned, in a well at the rear of her father’s house on Tuesday evening. The deceased was last seen at the mid-day meal and was then in her usual good health. She was not missed until her brother’s return to his home in the evening, and her body was later found in the well. An inquest was held before Mr J. B. Teasdale, district coroner, on Wednesday when the deceased’s father and two brothers gave evidence. These were the principal witnesses all of them being present at the mid-day meal. Mrs Annie Karl, MrThos. Cotton, and Constable Lander were also called, but none of the witnesses were able to furnish any evidence which pointed to the deceased having taken her own life, or to give any explanation as to how she fell into the well. The result of a post-mortem examination and the evidence of Dr Reekie also showed that there was no reason for her to take her own life. A verdict was brought in to the effect that deceased met her death by falling into a well, but that there was no evidence to show whether intentionally • or accidentally. The deceased was 31 years of age, and was to have been married in October."
