DANCE AT OHAUPO.

A most enjoyable plain and fancy dress ball, in aid of the English Church building fund, was held in the Ohaupo hall on Thursday evening last, and despite the most unfavourable weather, upwards of thirty couples graced the floor. The

hall was beautifully decorated with evergreens, being the work of a strong committee of ladies and gentlemen formed to carry the important task. The sump-

tuous supper which was supplied, was more than those present could dispose of, and the quantity which was left over was put up for auction by Mr Fenton, who made a very able auctioneer, and good prices resulted. Amongst the ladies in fancy dress were noticed Mrs Weatherley, nurse ; the Misses Envett, nurse ; Mason, Japanese; Ivy Mason, Daffodil; Bell, Flags of all Nations. The ladies in evening dress were: Mesdames A. Turnwald, E. Bell, Kusabs, Douglas, Livingstone, Misses Bartels, Rayson, Hunter, and Hill. The gentlemen who appeared in evening dress were: Messrs E. Mills, Sailor; C. Forkert, Sundowner; W. Douglas, Naval costume. The music was supplied by Mr and Mrs Fenton, and gave every satisfaction. The funds benefited to the extent of about three pounds, and the committee deserve every credit for the manner in which the affair was carried out.
