SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING.
A meeting of the School Committee was held in the public library on Friday last, the Rev. F. W. Clarke in the chair. The headmaster submitted a report on the number of children who had been irregular in their attendance during the past quarter. After full discussion it was decided to send warning to the parents of the children, and if this failed to secure regularity in their attendance the matter would be reported to the truant officer, who would take proceedings.
Correspondence came to hand in reference to the new site for the school to the effect that the Board had decided to acquire five acres from Mr W. Kirkham. Satisfaction was expressed at the action of the Board. The inspector's report on his recent visit to the school was read. The report showed that progress was being made in all departments of work, and the discipline of the children was good. The staff of the school were congratulated on the excellent report.
Sundry accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
