CORRESPONDENCE.

(Oil, correspondents opinions (ire IhcU • own; the responsibility oj editorial items makes sufficient ballast for the editors shoulw ders. It is necessary that all letters for publication should bear the name of the writei not necessarily fot publication, but as evidence "V of pood faith.)

TO THE EDITOR. SIR, — By way of emphasis I wish to contribute to your correspondence columns and refer to the National Provident Fund circulars which have been recently posted to all householders. I nave read much, and travelled too, and think this lund the finest thing ever promulgated, and will, when its value is recognised, become in itself the finest monument to the memory of the originator.

From seventeen to twenty-one a

lad may contribute one shilling v per week, and ensure all the benefits of the fund and then only be banking the money without interest, which is far better than spending it on luxuries. 1 am not a pessimist, but I can see through the mist of present labor troubles the iceberg of hard times looming in our course, and predict that soon we shall have of necessity to lop off luxuries'. To all with an income under £2OO a year I say sink something every month in this fund. Being bashful, sir, I subscribe myself, — Nunquam Non paratus. [From enquiries made we learn that the circulars above mentioned are the forerunners of a further and fuller explanation of the workings and benefits of the National Provident Fund, by Mr R. C. O’Connor, the funds lecturer, who will deliver a public address at an early date in Te Awamutu. We agree in toto with the above correspondent, whom, we thank for his valuable contribution. —Ed. W.P.]
