TENNIS CONCERT AT PIRONGIA.

A most enjoyable concert and dance, given by the Pirdngia Tennis Club, was held in the Pirongia Town Hall on Friday evening. The hall was packed! the seating accommodation being! fully taken up, while a great! number perforce had to stand;! The concert can claim to be the most successful and enjoyable held locally for many years. The \ programme went with a swing from the start, and there was not a dull moment from the first to the last item. Financially the * concert was equally successful, a credit balance being available for the funds of the club.

In the first half a concert programme was submitted, compris- . ing songs by Mrs H. Andrew, Miss R. Fear, Messrs E. James, N. Fear, J. Kay, W. Godfrey (encored), G. Galloway (encored), C. Peat, McCarthy, and Westbury; recitation by Miss Keys; piano solo by Mrs McCarthy; violin solo by Mr A. Randrup ; duet by Mrs Andrew and Mr Galloway ; and an exhibition 'of club swinging by Miss Madge Peit. Every item was well received, and was loudly applauded by an < appreciative audience. t The second part of the pro^"' - gramme was a farce entitled “Lodgers and Dodgers,” in which Mrs R. Aubin and M. Keys and Messrs W. and B. Godfrey, Chappell, and Geo. Finn took part. The staging was all that could be desired, and for over half an hour the audience was kept in laughter. At the close Mr W. Chappell called for cheers for the way in which the outside talent performed. and Mr Finn also called for cheers for all those who helped to make the evening so enjoyable, and especially for Mr Chappell, who undertook the stage management. The door takings amounted to £lO.

After refreshments were handed round the floor was got ready for dancing, which was kept up till 3a.m. Music was supplied by Mrs W. Macky and Messrs J. Milligan and C. Peatf Mr K.
