OTOROHANGA.

LOAN PROPOSAL CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

[Own Correspondent.]

A poll was taken on Thursday, April 4, 1912, in connection with the raising of a loan of £2050 to form the majority of the streets in the township, and to metal a considerable portion of the streets, as well as forming footpaths and culveiis. It was generally thought that the taking of this poll was only a legal formality that had to be gone through, and there would be no opposit'on. That the ratepayers are prepa 'eu j back up the Town Council in a progressive movement is shown by the result of the polling. Forty-four votes in favour and not one against. Tenders have already been called for the proposed work, tenders to close the day after the poll, and as the work has to be completed within six months it will not be long before Otorohanga presents a better appearance.
