WEDDING BELLS.

SUTHERLAND—ANDERSON,

On the afternoon of Wednesday, March 20th, St. Andrew's Church, Kihikihi, was the scene of a very pretty wedding of considerable local interest. The contracting parties were Miss Jessie Anderson, fourth daughter of Mr J. R. Anderson, of Kihikihi, and Mr James Alexander George Sutherland, fifth son of Mr H. Sutherland, of Clevedon; Wairoa. In honour of the occasion the interior of the church was ardstically decorated by the girl friends of the bride. A large arch with wedding bell suspended under which the bridal party stood, added greatly to the spectacular effect of the ceremony. The bride, as she entered the church on the arm of her father, who gave her away, looked handsome in an elegant toilette of creme chiffon taffeta, richly trimmed with silk applique and lace, surmounted by wreath and veil, and completed with a lovely shower bouquet. Miss Berthia of the attired in a dainty white silk gown and picture hat, and carrying a shower bouquet, attended as bridesmaid. The bridegroom was supported by his brother, Mr N. J. Sutherland, as best man.. The Rev. W. WboUass was the officiating minister, and Miss Cullen presided at the organ. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a gold watch and muff chain, and to the bridesmaid a gold brooch.

After the ceremony a large party of relatives and a few. intimate friends of both bride and bridegroom, drove to the residence of the bride's parents, where a light repast was partaken of and the customary toasts duly honoured.

Mr and Mrs Sutherland left by motor to join the southwardbound express at Te Awamutu, en route for Wanganui. Mrs Sutherland travelled in a smart navy serge tailor-made, and large black hat.

The young couple being'both well-known and highly-esteemed throughout the district, were the recipients of a large number of useful and valuable presents' This wedding is the first in Kihikihi in which the motor-car has taken the place of the oldtime horse-carriage.
