STATE STALLIONS.

CLYDESDALES FOR NEW SOUTH WALES.

Steps have been taken by the New South Wales Minister for Agriculture (Mr Trefle) to import three high-class active Clydesdale stallions for use on the State experimental farms. A sum of £2OOO has been made available for the purpose, and the AgentGeneral, who is to undertake the purchase, has been requested to consult first with Messrs Dunlop and Henderson, two members of the Scottish Agricultural Commission, who while in New South Wales paid special attention to the class of brood mares used on the Government farms.

When asked if the new importations would be available for private owners, Mr Trefle said that would depend upon the requirements of the Department, but he intended, if possible, to make them available to at least a limited nuniDer of mares in each district where they would be stationed.
