DISTRICT NEWS.
KORAKONUI.
(Own Correspondent.)
On Saturday we had a visit from the Commissioner of Crown Lands and several members of the Land Board, and they expressed themselves well pleased with improvements effected by the settlers.
The harvest is about finished and there are some good crops, Mr Kay having four large stacks of oats off 19 acres, or about 4 ton per acre. A visitor last week expressed the opinion that this district would soon come to be looked on as the garden of the Waikato.
Our school opened after the Christmas holidays with over twenty children. There are six men working on the road. This was much needed as there is a lot of carting on this road and it will have time now to set before the winter. We have had some heavy rain which will help to freshen the grass.
