There was a very good enquiry and fair prices were obtained for all classes. Near Morrinsville on December 14th we- held a clearing sale on behalf of Mrs Baxter, when 20 dairy cows made from £5 to £9, choice 15 month heifers £4 I2s, weaner calves £2, 2 medium draught horses £27 and £29, 2 trap horses £9 lOs and £lB lOs, unbroken medium draught filly £lB, furniture, implements, etc., at usual rates. ■WAII-lOU SALE. On December 15th we held our usual monthly Waihou stock sale, when the entry consisted of 971 sheep, 42 pigs, and 812 head of cattle, the latter including 250 of this season's calves. Sheep were a little easier in price, pigs were at ridiculously high figures, and all classes of cattle sold well. Fat ewes made lis to 13s 7d, fat wethers 15s, forward 4-tooth wethers 13s to 13s 6d, sound mouth ewes with lambs (all counted) 19s 9d, weaner pigs 14s to 235, best weaner calves 36s to 40s, others 20s to 325, yearling steers £3 to £3 ss, smaller steers £2 14s to £2 18s, 15 months old Jersey cross heifers £4 lOs, yearling heifers £3 ss, smaller heifers* £2 14s to £2 17s, well-fattened steers, medium weights- £8 16s to £9 4s, light weight steers £8 is, heavy fat cows £6 5s to £7 7s, lighter cows and heifers £5 to £5 15s, bulls £4 4s to £9 9s, 3 year steers in fresh condition £5 9s, 2 year steers £4 7s to £4 I2s 6d, good quality dairy heifers, Shorthorn cross £4 lOs to £5, dairy cows and heifers £5 15s to £7.
