(Own Correspondent). ■ On Friday evening last the ; young people of Paterangi gave I a most enjoyable kitchen dance I in honour of Miss Mabel Scott, j who is about to be married, and I vriii be leaving the district. The 1 hall was nicely decorated by the girlfriends of the young lady, I and the floor was in splendid order for dancing. Messrs J. I Sing and S. Jcphson acted as M.C.'s. Just before supper the former gentleman, who is one of the last of the " old Paterangi " school boys, presented the various kitchen articles, which numbered over forty, to .Miss Scott, at
i the same time saying a tew appropriate words about the guest of the evening, she being a special favourite in Paterangi i with both young and old. Mr j W. Scott suitably replied on bej half of his sister. At this gatherj ihg Mr H. Webb, on behalf of the library committee, took the opportunity ol presenting Miss Scott, who has acted .is librarian
! for some lime, with a bcautifullybound volume of Tennyson. At I the conclusion of the ente.riain- ! mfcnt all joined in singing "Aulrl I Lang Syne" and "She's a Joky ' Good Fellow."
