POLITICAL.

Mr J. A. Young delivered a political address in Jackson’s sample rooms on Tuesday evening. There was a very large attendance, and the, meeting was presided over by Mr C. Bowden (chairman of the Town Board). Mr Young, in a most eloquent manner dealt with his policy and was frequently applauded. Several questions were put forward and answered by the candidate. In reply to one question, the candidate denounced the iniquitous system of the Railway Department in not allowing excursionists to travel by the night express trains. He assured those present, that he would (if elected) do his utmost to bring about a change. A unanimous vote of thanks and confidence was carried with much applause. A round of applause was also given for Mr J. Jackson, who had gratuitously placed his l'oom at Mr Yeung’s disposal.
